Our ceilings are not even 80" but our height options at IKEA were 96" or 75".€  We rolled the dice, bought 96â€ units.  Using a chop saw we cut them down to 80" and assembled using the instructions that came with the units.    <br /><br />We then screwed them all together and to the wall and built a hardwood face frame over the units to give it a solid, built in look. We split up the units in half by adding a custom hamper drawer and display shelving. First, we assembled all the units (if you don't have enough room to store them once assembled, start from the Besta) and place them in the desired pattern (I wanted to obtain a sort of Tetris effect and my husband dreamt of a bookcase that went over the door).  <br />2. After some measurement to be sure, we drilled the holes in the wall and fixed the Billy shelf with some plugs over the sliding door, checking that everything was OK with the bubble level.  <br />3. Following our drawing, we put in position the Besta unit and the taller Billy bookcase on it, on the right side, so that it reached the height of the Billy shelf. We fixed some connector caps to link them (if the provided holes don't fit, just drill some new ones).  <br />4. We proceeded putting one of the smallest Billy bookcases in the middle position, adding on its top the height extension unit, and next to it the last Billy, to get the "zig zag" effect. The Billy units were carefully linked together with some connector caps.  <br />5. Yes! So I took the shelf insert, and cut it to suitable length. Now there is well used space to storage for example light bulbs and other home goods. I drilled four holes on the bottom and screwed in the candle holders. The resulting 5x3 mini Expedit was stabilized with a few screws from the side and a L-profile on the top and bottom end each. To make it stable 2 white L-brackets were screwed on the front side and another thin original board was attached at the rear. Additional screws were placed at the intersection of the thin boards from below. In doing so the "new" TV shelf can bear quite some weight again and nasty cables can be hidden in the same time. The cut edges are facing to the ground now and cannot be seen as well. We went with the ones that are 24 inches tall.   <br /><br />We chose a vessel sink that would over hang the cabinets for a more modern look.   <br /><br />After hanging the first cabinet for the sink, we needed the second cabinet to be much less deep. I measured a toilet roll and settled on a 6 inch depth for this cabinet.   <br /><br />The cabinet was cut all the way around and we attached the back to the more shallow cabinet before hanging it.   <br /><br />The table top we made out of 3/4 solid oak flooring with 1x2 oak trim. I don't have large spools like hers, but I thought it was a very clever way to see your thread but then "not see it" when you don't need it. I cut strips from an old piece of foam core, taped them to the sides of the drawers, and arranged my thread by color. Pins stuck into the foam core hold the corresponding bobbins nearby. The only trouble was that there was "just enough" space for the iron and board and if either shifted, one of them was in danger of falling off. Not nice.  <br /><br />I'd like to find a rack/shelf of some kind that I can attach to the top of the cabinet somehow, and then attach the board to that. And since I'd also like to enlarge the pressing board to a full 24" square (it's only 22" now), it would have to be  wide enough to be able to hold the iron completely to the side.  <br /><br />I'm hoping that some of your clever folk might have some ideas for me. I used zip ties to connect the wiring to the monitor arm, leaving a little excess wire to accommodate the various arm positions. He's a great roommate, but his litter box clashes with my aesthetic - not to mention the precious square footage that it occupies. So when I bought a new bookshelf for my entryway, I decided to make it double as a litter box hideaway as well.   <br /><br />This is a great hack because you're only sacrificing one row of shelves - the top three rows can still be used for storage. I left the top four cubes open and stuck KNIPSA baskets in the bottom two. There may be wooden pegs sticking out where the shelf divider should be; you can just saw or sand those down. Don't throw out the unused shelf divider, though - you'll need it later!   <br /><br />Before you assemble the EXPEDIT insert with door, lay the insert flat and use a boxcutter to slice off the right side (the side that would have lined up with the bottom shelf divider, if you hadn't skipped the bottom shelf divider). Assemble and install the insert on the left side of the bottom shelf.   <br /><br />Now you have a bottom shelf that's half-closed - the spare shelf divider is going to become the other half. Right now it's a bit too long to fit neatly next to the door, so cut it down to size using a jigsaw (or a handsaw and some serious elbow grease) to trim about 1" off the short edge. Next, install the cat flap in the center of this panel according to the instructions on the flap.  <br /><br />Slide the panel into the front of the shelving unit, wedging it tightly in place next to the door insert. You can open the door to place the litter box inside, and your kitty can use the flap to step in and out.   <br /><br />Et voila! This allowed for a slight overhang, and then we screwed the same things into the side of the cabinets. He hung one Akurum 36" x 39" frame and built a wood frame around the gas meter next to it.  He then sheet-rocked in the frames, and hung the doors.  He had to use sheetrock rather than just hanging the cabinets because of the size of the gas meter.
