The hinges weren't put in correctly when it was first built, and so the doors would never shut completely and we were constantly banging our knees when we brushed our teeth. We went to the Home Depot to see how much it would cost to re-do the doors, and WHOA! Cabinet doors and hardware are EXPENSIVE!  <br /><br />Instead, we went to IKEA and purchased a Racka curtain rod and the Betydlig hardware to install it. While we were there, I saw the Lustifik shoe rack and the measurements were perfect to create shelves inside the cabinet space!  <br /><br />First, we took the hinges and old doors off completely! We trimmed the bottom and top with IKEA Sy pinking shears so the fabric wouldn't fray, and cut small slits along the top edge to weave the Racka rod through.  <br /><br />Finally, after the curtains were finished, we put together the Lustifik shoe rack and placed it inside. It fits perfectly and creates extra shelving for storage. We used the Skubb and Godmorgon boxes for organizing our bathroom, too!   <br /><br />All in all, this project only took about an hour. I measured my closet to 60 centimeters, and went out to Ikea to grab the Lustifik shoe rack, which is exactly 60 centimeters.  <br /><br />After assembling the shoe rack, I tried to fit it into my closet to no avail. (Over here in Singapore we live in tiny 3 room sardine cans which we spend our whole life's paying for). And as such anything I would do to modify/hack had to be simple. <br /><br />4) Did I mention I think speaker stands are just glorified stools?...I ain't gonna pay $300 USD for stools! <br /><br />So, one Friday afternoon I spent my time walking around my friendly Ikea store..I had been inspired by other cool ikeahacks (ie.
